Key Highlights, FY 2025-26
Our Human Capital Approach Is Built on Five Foundational Pillars:
Sustainable Growth Through Talent Management
KBL’s talent management strategy is focused on enabling sustainable business growth by building leadership capability, strengthening the internal talent pipeline and ensuring continuity through effective succession planning.
A robust Leadership Competency Framework provides the foundation for identifying, developing and evaluating talent across critical roles. This framework defines the behaviours, skills and capabilities required to lead in alignment with KBL’s values, strategy and long-term objectives, ensuring consistency in leadership expectations across the organisation.
Structured talent reviews and potential assessments are conducted to identify high performing and high potential employees. These reviews enable data-driven decisions on development priorities, role-readiness and succession plans. Identified high potential talent is actively engaged through targeted learning opportunities, mentoring, cross-functional exposure and leadership development interventions designed to accelerate growth and expand capabilities.
KBL’s approach to succession planning emphasises developing internal talent to fill future leadership and critical positions. Through focused development interventions, including training, coaching and experiential assignments, we have strengthened our internal bench strength. As a result, 65% of key and leadership roles are supported by an internal talent pool, reinforcing continuity, reducing dependency on external hiring and preserving institutional knowledge.
This integrated talent management approach ensures that KBL remains future-ready, resilient and well positioned to meet evolving business needs while providing meaningful career progression and growth opportunities for employees.
Capability Building
KBL’s capability building approach is anchored in a role-based Behavioural and Technical Competency Framework designed to nurture talent and align workforce skills with evolving business and technological requirements. The framework clearly defines the behavioural and technical competencies required across roles, enabling targeted learning interventions that build capability, performance excellence and future-readiness.
Learning initiatives are purposefully designed to address behavioural and technical competencies, emerging new technology trends, as well as critical areas such as compliance, ethics and employee safety. This integrated approach ensures employees are well equipped to meet regulatory expectations, uphold organisational values and operate safely while delivering high quality outcomes.
A unique strength of KBL’s learning ecosystem is the organisation’s legacy of excellence, supported by a strong pool of in-house superannuated experts. These experienced professionals play a pivotal role in coaching, mentoring and nurturing young talent, transferring institutional knowledge and practical expertise. Through structured mentorship and knowledge-sharing programs, KBL builds leadership depth and preserves critical capabilities required for long-term sustainability.
During FY 2025-26, KBL conducted over 200+ learning and development programs, demonstrating a strong commitment to continuous learning and capability enhancement. On average, employees received 5 training person days per employee, covering technical skills, leadership development, compliance training, safety awareness and cultural alignment.
This comprehensive and competency-driven learning strategy strengthens KBL’s talent pipeline, reinforces succession-readiness and supports the creation of a future-ready organisation, one that blends experience with innovation to drive sustainable growth.
At KBL, we are committed to supporting the continuous growth and long-term development of our employees. As part of this commitment, KBL has a Higher Education Policy designed to encourage and support employees who pursue advanced education aligned with organisational and professional requirements.
The policy enables employees to enhance their technical knowledge, functional expertise and leadership capabilities, while balancing academic aspirations with workplace responsibilities. By supporting higher education, KBL helps employees deepen subject matter expertise, stay relevant amid evolving industry and technology trends and build capabilities critical to both individual career progression and organisational success.
Through this initiative, KBL reinforces a culture of lifelong learning and self development, empowering employees to take ownership of their professional growth. The policy also strengthens internal capability building by creating a more skilled, knowledgeable and future ready workforce, thereby contributing to sustainable business growth.
By investing in employee education, KBL demonstrates its belief that organisational success is closely linked to the development and advancement of its people.
Revisiting People Policies
We periodically review and update our people and well-being policies to ensure alignment with strategic priorities and employee needs. Policies such as Higher Education Support, Health Club Reimbursement, Travel Policy, Local Travel Policy, Change in Working Hours at Head Office and the Advanced Salary Disbursement Date were revisited. The National Pension Scheme was also extended to mid-level and junior-level employees.
Culture of Continuous Performance
At KBL, we foster a culture of continuous performance that enables individuals, teams and leaders to deliver consistent results while continuously developing their capabilities. Our performance framework is designed to support employees at every stage of their career, from effective onboarding to leadership excellence.
- Performance Enablement for New Employees To support new employees in their effective integration and early success, KBL follows a structured 30-60-90-120 day feedback mechanism. This approach ensures regular guidance, clear expectation setting and timely feedback, helping new hires acclimatise to their roles, understand performance standards and build confidence during their initial months.
- Measuring Learning Effectiveness and ROI KBL emphasises the Return On Investment (ROI) of learning initiatives by systematically evaluating training effectiveness and its impact on required competency enhancement. Learning outcomes are assessed through feedback, application on the job and improvement in defined behavioural and technical competencies, ensuring that training directly supports performance improvement and capability building.
-
Role-Based Performance Evaluation
Performance evaluation at KBL is aligned with role requirements through a structured goal-setting process. Goals are categorised into:
- Result Goals, linked to outcome-based and result-oriented KPIs
- People Goals, focused on collaboration, team performance and leadership behaviours
In addition, special initiatives and project-based goals are assigned to ensure timely delivery of critical assignments and strategic priorities, reinforcing accountability and ownership.
- Performance Governance and Review Mechanisms
To maintain consistency and effective control, KBL follows a robust monthly performance review mechanism, conducted from top to bottom in the presence of management. This structured review process ensures transparency, timely course correction and alignment with organisational objectives.
Further, mid year and annual performance assessments, supported by validation interventions, enable both individuals and the organisation to track progress, identify development needs and enhance performance on an ongoing basis.
- Leadership Performance and Feedback At the leadership level, KBL uses a 360 degree feedback mechanism to strengthen performance effectiveness. This comprehensive feedback process helps leaders gain insights into their behaviour, leadership impact and development opportunities, supporting continuous improvement and alignment with organisational values.
Promoting Diversity and Inclusion
At KBL, diversity isn’t just a buzzword, but one of our core values. We believe in the power of different perspectives, backgrounds and experiences coming together to drive innovation and success.
