Our strategy for biodiversity conservation focuses on minimising the ecological impact of our operations and promoting the protection and restoration of natural habitats. We integrate green practices across our facilities, including tree plantation drives, greenbelt development, and the preservation of native species.

Enhancing Green Cover and Ecological Balance

Across our facilities, we promote greenbelt development and landscaping initiatives that enhance environmental quality. We prioritise planting native and
regionally suitable species to support local biodiversity and ecological resilience.

Green spaces within and around our premises serve multiple purposes—they improve air quality, regulate temperature, support pollinators and contribute to a healthier working environment for employees. Periodic plantation drives and environmental campaigns further strengthen our commitment to ecological
enhancement.

KBL is committed to harnessing renewable energy to power a cleaner, more sustainable future. Through solar and wind installations at our facilities, we actively reduce our carbon footprint and fulfill our energy requirements responsibly. Currently, KBL has 4 MW of wind power alongside 3.2 MW of rooftop solar capacity.

Additionally, KBL has signed a Solar Open Access Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) to power the manufacturing facility at Kirloskarvadi. The 11 MWp solar project generates approx. 20 Million units of clean energy annually. This has helped in substantially increasing the renewable energy usage at Kirloskarvadi plant from the existing 25% to 70%. This initiative has led to a significant reduction in KBL’s carbon footprint by offsetting 14,200 metric tonnes of CO2 eq emissions yearly.

Recovering & reusing energy at Hydraulic Research Centre

Our patented pump models, PICO and PAT are designed for meeting smaller energy requirements in diverse industries. These pumps can be operated in reverse as a turbine for generating electricity. PICO is generally used for meeting smaller energy requirements (up to 10 kW), while PAT can be used for meeting comparatively higher energy requirements (up to 1 MW). These solutions, which are installed as a full-fledged energy generation unit, are not just helping companies reduce their energy costs; they are also considered a potent alternative for combating global warming
