Climate Change

The world is changing, and so must the way we operate. At KBL, we embrace the challenge of climate change as an opportunity to innovate, conserve and create fluid management solutions that leave a positive mark on both people and the planet.

Our climate approach is aligned with internationally recognised frameworks such as the GHG Protocol and the Paris Agreement, ensuring transparency, accountability and measurable progress. We aim to achieve operational NET ZERO by 2040 and NET ZERO by 2047

A Structured Roadmap to Net Zero

Our pathway to Net Zero is built on a clear, time-bound roadmap focusing on operational decarbonisation, renewable energy transition, energy efficiency, circular economy practices and value chain engagement.

Integrating Climate Responsibility into Our Operations

KBL continuously works to reduce the environmental footprint of its manufacturing operations. We actively monitor and manage energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions across our facilities. Through process optimisation, energy-efficient technologies, waste reduction initiatives and improved resource management, we aim to lower our carbon intensity year on year.

We are progressively increasing the share of renewable energy in our energy mix and exploring cleaner technologies to support long-term decarbonisation. Digital tools and advanced monitoring systems are being leveraged to enhance efficiency, reduce losses and improve sustainability performance across operations.

We are taking proactive steps to decarbonise direct emissions through phasing out carbon-intensive fuels and introducing cleaner fuel alternatives. By switching from coal based furnaces to induction furnace, we have reduced 37% scope 1 emissions (baseline 2022-23) In addition, we encourage sustainable mobility through electric vehicles, CNG adoption, carpooling initiatives, and optimised logistics planning.

As a pump manufacturer, our greatest climate impact extends beyond our factory gates. KBL’s carbon emissions are primarily driven by its scope 3 emissions, which account for nearly 99.98% of the company’s total emissions. Our engineering innovation focuses on designing high-efficiency pumping systems that reduce customer energy consumption, thereby reducing use of sold product emissions.

Achieving overall Net Zero requires collaboration beyond our operations. We are:

  • Engaging suppliers on emission disclosure and reduction pathways
  • Encouraging adoption of renewable energy within the supply chain
  • Integrating sustainability parameters into procurement practices
  • Supporting ESG awareness initiatives among partners

This approach ensures climate action extends across the entire value chain.
