Kirloskar Brothers Limited inaugurates its new plant at Coimbatore to manufacture small domestic pumps
Pune, June 17th 2011: In a bid to further boost its presence and business in India, Kirloskar Brothers Limited (KBL), India’s largest manufacturer and exporter of pumps & valves, inaugurated its new manufacturing plant at Karumathampatti near Coimbatore to exclusively manufacture the small domestic range of pumps.
With an initial investment of Rs 10 crore, this facility is spread over six acres and has an installed capacity of 5,00,000 units. The plant which is equipped with state of the art manufacturing facility, will manufacture different models of domestic pumps. To start with, it will operate on one single shift and produce 2,50,000 pumps per annum before going on full throttle within a couple of years. This plant is expected to fetch a turnover of Rs. 150 crore in the next three years.
This facility will further strengthen KBL’s distribution network in the fast growing market for the domestic pumps in the southern parts of India. Prior to the opening of the new plant, KBL’s existing plant at Dewas was catering to Pan India demands for domestic pumps.
The plant was inaugurated at the hands of Mr Sanjay Kirloskar, Chairman and Managing Director of KBL, in the presence of eminent distinguished guests and members of the Kirloskar family. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Kirloskar said, “The new plant at Coimbatore is all set to take KBL’s success story further. With this new investment, we are eyeing at becoming a leading player in the market for small domestic pumps as well. Presently we have a much smaller share of this market as our focus had been more on the industrial range of pumps so far.”
The new plant at Coimbatore will add to their already existing modern facilities at Kirloskarvadi near Sangli, Kondhapuri and Shirwal near Pune; and Dewas in Madhya Pradesh
