Kirloskar Brothers Limited Secures Patent for Innovative Hotspot Mitigation Circuit in Photovoltaic Modules

Aug 04, 2025

We are excited to announce the grant of Indian Patent No. 569497 for the invention titled "Hotspot Mitigation Circuit for Photovoltaic Module." The patent, granted by the Indian Patent Office, is valid for a term of 20 years from December 20, 2018.

This breakthrough invention addresses a critical challenge in solar energy systems, hotspot formation in photovoltaic (PV) modules due to partial shading. The circuit significantly reduces reverse bias voltage across shaded cells, thereby preventing cell breakdown, enhancing module reliability and mitigating fire risks.

Mr. Sanjay Kirloskar, Chairman and Managing Director of Kirloskar Brothers Limited, commented: "This patent is a testament to our commitment to sustainable innovation and engineering excellence. As the world transitions to cleaner energy, our technology ensures safer and more reliable solar power systems. We are proud to contribute to India’s renewable energy mission with indigenous, cutting-edge solutions."

KBL continues to lead the way in developing advanced technologies that align with global sustainability goals and the evolving needs of the energy sector.
